I am back from holidays and ready for the new school year and my creative life. It has been a very productive summer, I launched my first online course, Start an Upcycling Business and I have also been working on a new project.

It is exciting but a bit scaring too. It is a project that I have always had in my mind and it is probably the main reason why I started The Old School Club in the first place, to create a community of creatives.

I have been running a creative business for 5 years and teaching the classes at the club for 3 years. I love helping other people live a more creative life.

I understand how difficult it is to come up with new project ideas, prepare and deliver workshops, run the admin, marketing and sales of the business, manage & organise your time whilst looking after children or having a day job.

When I ask my students what their biggest challenges are when trying to set up or grow a creative business, most people say the lack of time, having too much information and not knowing where to start or what to do next.

– They may know what they need but they are not sure how to get there.

– They are overwhelmed with the amount of projects and tutorials out there and struggling to stay focused.

– They wonder if their homemade business is just an expensive hobby.

– Or they just want to jump into the unknown and start their own creative business.

Are these the same as yours? What are you 3 biggest challenges? Whether you spend a few hours a week sewing, blogging about something you love or you are trying to grow your creative business. I would love to know, please send them over to me or add them in the comments below.

I don’t like blogging (seriously, I don’t). I prefer talking to people, having personal conversations, finding out about your projects and your dreams. I can do this at my onsite classes at The Old School Club, but I can’t do it on the blog.

This is my plan: every month I will be sending a bundle of information which you will be able to follow from home, at your own time; in easy to follow tutorials, guides and workbooks; with the right information to guide you from where you are now to where you want to be and all of this whilst being part of a community of creatives just like you where we can learn, make and share.

I encourage you to start and build your creative journey. I did it, I left my career in IT and started The Old School Club, from home, in a little studio, with few resources but lots of ideas.

I would love to help people like you, creatives, homemakers and upcyclers learn new skills, make unique creations and build better businesses so you can focus on your creative work.

So this is what I have been working on. If you would like to be part of the online hub and community of creatives, please make sure you enter your details below to be added to the list. You will be the first one to know when we start, and it is going to be soon.

I hope to see you at the other side!

To a happy & creative life.
